North America

This is another major region for meat market access. Ireland was the first EU MS to secure market access to the USA in January 2015 and to export beef to the USA. The Ministerial Trade Mission to North America took in both the USA and Mexico. Pigmeat and beef access to Mexico is currently being pursued. 

South America

As a major producer of beef the region has not been a target region for the Department. However, pigmeat access to Chile was secured in 2017 and there may be some potential elsewhere in the region for Irish meat.
